Western Pleasure Guest Ranch is a real working ranch on 1,100 acres in the scenic panhandle of North Idaho. The Touch Media crew can attest from first hand experience that the ranch is a truly world-class experience: beautifully rugged lodge and cabins, landscaped grounds, fine barns and corrals, great food, exceptional staff. Oh, and if you like trail riding, there are miles and mile of scenic trails through the hills, forest and meadows of the ranch and the unlimited lands adjoining the ranch.
Western Pleasure Guest Ranch is located in an exceptionally picturesque part of northern Idaho, 16 miles northeast of Sandpoint, recently voted the Most Beautiful Town in America by Rand McNally, and “One of the Five Best Small Towns” by USA Today. The community sits in a broad valley at the head of 55 mile long Lake Pend Oreille and ringed by the nearby Selkirk and Cabinet mountain ranges. The lofty skyline of this area of North Idaho is not only home to endless forests, clear alpine lakes and diverse wildlife, but also nearby Schweitzer Mountain ski area.

Roley and Janice Schoonover, and her parents, ranchers Jim and Virginia Wood, have transformed this historic ranch into one of Idaho’s quality guest ranches. Your hosts will share their love for their family ranch along with the rich history, beauty and traditions of the area. Western Pleasure Guest Ranch is for folks who appreciate sincere country hospitality and real western adventure. Guests are paired with the ideal horse for their size and skill levels. The experienced wranglers provide thorough training and guidance for the less experienced rider. Guests have a great adventures on the trail rides and learn team work rounding up the cattle together.
Comfy accommodations are available in the lodge and the selection of rustically plush cabins nearby. Plenty of good home cookin’ and endless coffee are served in the spacious lodge dining room and even ’round the campfire for a special meal they call the Dutch Oven Cookout, complimented with skillfully played western music by some of the ranch’s more musically gifted wranglers, with guitar, fiddle and mandolin accompanying the voices.
